eyejourney Reaches 5,000 Patients and Demonstrates 40% Reduction in Chair Time
Rayner's eyejourney passes 5,000 enrolled patients and confirms 40% cut in chair time, setting the benchmark for AI-powered patient education in ophthalmology
1 September 2026 | Worthing, UK
Rayner's digital health division, Innoptix, announces today that eyejourney, its AI-powered patient education platform, has passed 5,000 patients enrolled. eyejourney has registered patients across leading UK and international clinics just six months after commercial launch, affirming its position as category leader in scale and scope. The milestone is backed by new clinical data presented at DOC 2026, showing eyejourney cuts consultation and chair time by up to 40%¹.
Unlike many single-purpose tools, eyejourney spans the full patient journey - pre- and post-op education, electronic consent, eye drop compliance tracking and patient engagement via app push notifications, SMS and email. It has been developed with a world-leading clinical advisory board, based on patient-centred research and in collaboration with ophthalmic specialist developer Wolfson Research.
“Our Innoptix team is breaking new ground, and it's exciting to see the impact in action. Passing 5,000 patients within six months, with real clinical data behind it, tells us we're solving a genuine problem, not adding technology for its own sake. eyejourney reflects Rayner's long-term commitment to bringing evidence-based innovation to ophthalmologists,” said Tim Clover, CEO at Rayner.
Through an extensive content library, surgeons generate bespoke video messages using their own digital avatars - letting patients revisit key instructions in their clinician's voice long after leaving the practice. Clinic teams, meanwhile, capture electronic consent, monitor education engagement and track eye drop compliance from a single dashboard.
“For us, it's day-to-day business - but for a patient, eye surgery is a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” said Dr. Tabitha Neuhann, Vision Correction Surgeon at Ophthalmologikum Dr. Neuhann. “When patients understand what's happening, through the structured education videos and drop compliance tracker, they arrive better prepared and need less reassurance in the room. That's a real difference for chair time, and it means we can spend that time on what matters most: their care.”
Looking ahead, Innoptix plans to expand eyejourney's AI capabilities across the surgical and post-operative journey, building on its position as the first and most established platform of its kind in ophthalmology.
The eyejourney team will present live demonstrations at the Rayner booth during ESCRS 2026 in London (11–14 September). Attendees can reserve a demo via https://calendly.com/stanleywindsor/escrs-live-demo
